It's the last week of Term 3!

Here's what we will be doing:

09S05 tutorial:
1. Complete Alkenes tutorial
2. Start on Arenes tutorial

09S05 practical (converted to tutorial):
1. Short class test (20min) on Organic Chem topics (up to and including Alkenes)
2. Continue Arenes tutorial

09S29 tutorial:
1. Start on Alkenes tutorial

09S29 practical (converted to tutorial):
1. Complete Alkenes tutorial
2. Start on Arenes tutorial

For all lessons (both tutorials AND practicals), please bring your ten-year series (TYS) because some of your tutorial questions are found inside.

I will update you with regard to the extra tutorial on Tuesday of the September holidays. I hope to finish Organic chem tutorials so that when you come back to school in Term 4, I can do some revision for your Final Exam (in week 2!).

It's gonna be a really short week because of Teachers' Day and the celebrations. Use this extra time-off wisely! (:

As we near the end of term 3, it is time to be more focused on academics and work harder for Promos.

For 09S05, since you have done your SPA already, there are no more practicals for this year. All practicals are converted to tutorials. This gives us more time to go through tutorials.

For 09S29, your SPA will be during your practical period on Thursday. After this week, there will be no more practicals and all practical periods will be converted to tutorials.

Here's what I'll be covering this week:

1. Any questions on Alkanes?

2. Re-cap of Free Radical Substitution in class. (Mini quiz. I have already uploaded the powerpoint slides.)

3. Any questions on Alkenes?

4. Alkenes tutorial

Please bring along your lecture notes, your tutorials (try the questions before coming to class ok?) & 10-year series.

Do make it a habit to check my Moodle course every week as I will always upload the lesson objectives in advance. Help to remind your classmates too. Thanks! (:

Hello! I hope you all are not too stressed by MSA 2 papers and SPAs. Think of the MSA 2 as a small little step to helping you prepare for your Promos.

Next week is going to be yet another 4-day school week. So here's what we're going to do:

Tutorial:

1. Isomerism tutorial (Q13(e) to (h) & 16.) - I will collect this in class. Be prepared to submit your tutorial to me.
2. Go through Free Radical Substitution briefly.
3. Start on alkenes tutorial (Just the MCQs first)

You will need to bring your LECTURE NOTES and TEN-YEAR SERIES also, besides the tutorials stated. I have already uploaded the solutions to alkanes tutorial so I would not be going through that. If you have questions, do approach me after class.

Practical:

09S05 - SPA DAY
09S29 - No practical this week because of Learning festival

By now, you should more or less know what SPA is going to be. And I trust that Mdm Lee & Mrs Leow have drilled into you the importance of scoring in SPA. You should aim for marks between 18 to 20. Those of you who obtained single-digit scores for VA 10, do clarify your errors with me. If you're unsure of anything, pls come and look for me.
